Summary of Experience

Professor Merrigan’s research focuses on econometrics and statistical methods, household behavior, welfare and poverty, labor and employment economics, and time allocation. He has consulted widely in Canada to organizations including Human Resources Development Canada; Committee of Experts, National Longitudinal Survey of Canadian Youth; Comité des retombées, Conseil Québécois de la Recherche Sociale; and the Canadian Policy Research Network. Professor Merrigan has published widely in refereed journals on topics including welfare policy in Canada and mental health and unemployment.
