Summary of Experience:
Dr. Lutz’s practice focuses on antitrust and intellectual property issues. She has a particular interest in antitrust analyses in the health care and airline/aerospace industries and has extensive experience in managing large, complex antitrust cases in both these sectors. Experienced in assessing the competitive effects of mergers and other business combinations, she has evaluated both liability and damage issues in cases involving claims of monopolization and attempted monopolization, predatory pricing, price discrimination, vertical restraints, exclusionary conduct, and tying and bundling arrangements. In intellectual property issues, Dr. Lutz has evaluated antitrust counterclaims and calculated economic damages from patent and trademark infringement and theft of trade secrets in a range of industries including agricultural products, computer software, medical products, automobile parts, and building products. She has also given presentations on appropriate methods of intellectual property damage calculation and on antitrust issues in an intellectual property context. Dr. Lutz has also served as a Vice President in NERA’s Antitrust Practice in Los Angeles and as a Visiting Scholar in the Department of Finance and Business Economics at the University of Southern California's School of Business and Administration.
