Judson Jaffe Joins Treasury’s New Office of Environment and Energy

Vice President Judson Jaffe – a specialist in energy and environmental economics – joins the newly-created Office of Environment and Energy in the U.S. Department of the Treasury, effective January 2009. The purpose of the new office is to develop, coordinate, and execute “the Treasury Department’s role in the domestic and international environment and energy agenda of the United States.” Mr. Jaffe will focus on the development of domestic climate change policy.
During his career at Analysis Group, Mr. Jaffe has co-authored numerous reports with our affiliate Professor Robert Stavins of Harvard University. These reports have addressed a wide variety of issues relating to the economics of environmental policy, and climate policy in particular. In addition, Mr. Jaffe has supported the expert witness testimony of several of our affiliates, including Professor Stavins, Dean Glenn Hubbard of Columbia Business School, Professor Robert S. Pindyck of MIT/Sloan, and Professor Timothy J. Riddiough of the University of Wisconsin. These litigation and regulatory assignments have addressed environmental matters as well as antitrust and health care matters.
Prior to joining Analysis Group, Mr. Jaffe served as a staff economist with the President’s Council of Economic Advisers. He holds an M.Phil. in Economics from the University of Cambridge, and an A.B. in Environmental Science, Public Policy, and Economics from Harvard University.
