Wichita Clinic v. Columbia/HCA Health Services of Kansas

The Wichita Clinic charged Columbia/HCA with attempting to monopolize hospital and primary care physician services in Wichita and surrounding counties. An Analysis Group team led by affiliate Stanley Ornstein investigated market power and competitive conditions in hospital, primary care, and outpatient surgery services in the relevant market; the relevant product and geographic markets; barriers to entry; and the plaintiff's evidence on a dangerous probability of successful monopolization. The court found the plaintiff failed to prove antitrust injury, illegal predatory conduct, and a dangerous probability of monopolization. The judge dismissed the case.
