Assistance to energy companies, regulators, other industry organizations, and law firms engaged in energy litigation

Environmental Policy Analyses

We have supported clients in strategic, regulatory, and litigation settings in matters related to environmental and natural resource economics, including:

  • Emissions of criteria pollutants, toxic chemicals and greenhouse gases (GHG)
  • Water use and discharge
  • Analysis of energy infrastructure development proposals
Managing Uncertainty in the Energy Sector
In this issue of the Energy Bulletin, our consultants and affiliates consider the policies and processes around developing natural gas as a valuable U.S. resource, and the key questions executives are asking themselves about talent, resources, finances, and technology.

Our recent projects have included evaluating the design of climate policy to account for environmental co-benefits; developing and reviewing strategic positions on national, regional, and state climate change policy for major electric utilities and other energy sector players developing regulatory and business strategies to help a Fortune 500 company reduce GHG emissions and energy use; and analyzing the ability of a major electric utility to finance and recover a court-ordered investment in air pollution control equipment. We also have worked with utilities and their consumers to determine the cost impacts of alternative water treatment strategies, and have evaluated the implications of climate change on the performance of energy systems and infrastructure such as hydroelectric facilities, transmission systems, and demand forecasts.
