Summary of Experience

Professor Meadow is an expert on entrepreneurial finance, venture capital, and private equity. His teaching focuses on the valuation, security design, structure, organic and inorganic growth, and financing of private equity and venture capital projects. In addition, he focuses on the due diligence process in developing the economics and strategic direction of such projects. He has been a full-time faculty member at Chicago Booth for 17 years. In addition, he has over 25 years of experience as a general partner with private equity and venture capital firms, including William Blair Venture Partners, Frontenac Company, Sprout Group, and most recently with Edgewater Funds, where he remains an associate partner. Over the course of his career, Professor Meadow has approved hundreds of equity financings, where he has been responsible for conducting due diligence and evaluating due diligence findings of others in order to make an investment decision. His direct investment expertise spans sectors including health care services, consumer services, education, and retail companies, as well as companies enhanced by the Internet. He has served as a testifying expert witness in commercial disputes and is an advisor to numerous venture funds and corporate boards. Recently, he served on the board of directors of National Equipment Services (NASDAQ: NLEQ) during its emergence from Chapter 11, Advanced Life Sciences, and Barrier Safe Systems prior to sale. He currently serves on the boards of Invenergy and GenerationOne, and is an advisor to Anka Capital, a private equity firm focused on Turkey.

Professor Meadow is a recipient of the Richard J. Daley Award, which acknowledges a single individual who has given direct and extraordinary support to the state of Illinois by participating in or being an advocate for the venture capital and private equity industry. He has also been recognized several times for teaching excellence.
