Summary of Experience
Mr. Bell has extensive experience in the energy industry auditing natural resource companies, assisting clients in responding to U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) investigations, and working with senior executives and boards of directors of public companies. He worked as a petroleum engineer for three years before obtaining an M.B.A. in accounting and joining Ernst & Young LLP; he is also a Certified Public Accountant. Since retiring from Ernst & Young in 2006, Mr. Bell has served on several boards of directors for public and private companies, generally as the audit committee chair. Mr. Bell was the chief restructuring officer of Energy Partners Limited, where he restructured the company's debt and managed it through a successful chapter 11 proceeding. Mr. Bell has testified as an expert witness in numerous oil and gas disputes. These cases include assisting clients with Foreign Corrupt Practices Act allegations by the SEC, assessing management responsibilities under the Sarbanes-Oxley Act, conducting valuations of oil and gas properties, and evaluating refinery economics and board responsibilities in merger and acquisition activities.
