Summary of Experience

Dr. Manning has extensive expertise in the leadership, management, and operations of higher educational institutions. With more than 40 years' experience in leadership at universities including the University of Illinois and the University of Southern California, Dr. Manning's areas of specialization include quality assurance, accreditation, academic quality, and governance in higher education. She has given testimony before the US House Committee on Education and Labor, regarding higher education and a federal definition of the credit hour, and the US Senate Committee on Health, Education, Labor and Pensions, regarding for-profit higher education. Dr. Manning has also presented expert testimony on the topic of accreditation in California and Maryland courts. The former interim president of Shepherd University and past president of the Higher Learning Commission of the North Central Association, Dr. Manning has also served on the board of the American Association of Colleges and Universities. She holds dual US and Canadian citizenship.
