Summary of Experience
Mr. Lucas currently serves as an independent consultant on issues related to GAAP in his consultancy LUCAS Financial Reporting. From 1988 to 2002, in his role as director of research and technical activities for the Financial Accounting Standards Board (FASB), he actively participated in all major FASB projects, including income taxes, impairment of assets, stock compensation, and various financial instrument topics, notably derivatives and hedging. He also served as chairman of the Emerging Issues Task Force (EITF), a group of top accounting professionals that met to debate and resolve financial reporting issues on a timely basis. Mr. Lucas consults with corporate management on problems identified with past accounting that might require restatement, and he also works with legal counsel as an expert in both testifying and consulting roles in various civil and criminal legal proceedings and SEC investigations.
