Summary of Experience

Mr. Jyoti specializes in the application of finance and economics to a variety of business and legal concerns. His experience spans industries including asset management, chemicals, financial services, health care, pharmaceuticals, real estate, securities and financial instruments, telecommunications, transportation, and utilities. Mr. Jyoti has worked on cases involving antitrust, tax, securities law violations, loss causation, class certification, 10b-5 and Section 11 damages, business interruption, cost of capital, breach of contract, executive compensation, fiduciary duty, and patent infringement.

Mr. Jyoti has supported several affiliates, including Professor R. Glenn Hubbard of Columbia Business School, with whom he worked on behalf of the U.S. Department of Justice to analyze the partnership structure of a multinational chemical company and several foreign banks in an alleged tax shelter matter. 

In other engagements, Mr. Jyoti has provided testimony regarding the potential impact on employment of electricity rate increases; examined the procedures, practices, and performance of a fiduciary responsible for managing an investment portfolio; investigated claims of market manipulation; benchmarked the energy costs of an aluminum smelter against those of its competitors; analyzed the impact of allegedly fraudulent information on stock prices; and developed a model to calculate insurance allocation exposure, given that the insured event occurred over several decades and involved multiple insurers.
