Finance and Strategy
Analysis Group has provided analytical and management support for energy industry companies in a variety of engagements. In addition to our expertise in energy policy, we are distinguished by deep quantitative capabilities, as well as expertise in practices related to energy finance.
Our interdisciplinary expertise has enabled us to help companies:
- Assess options for existing assets, along with new investments and business opportunities
- Manage financial, physical, and operational risk
- Develop strategic plans
- Analyze their financial condition or the value of specific projects
- Model economy-wide energy and GHG savings from a large technology firm’s portfolio of products and services
Regional Greenhouse Gas Initiative
In a major study of a regional greenhouse gas initiative, we used MAPS to model electricity sector outcomes, and IMPLAN to model macroeconomic results.
In recent engagements, we have analyzed a large energy company’s strategic options for a power plant, including divestiture, risk management, and operational options. We performed a series of technical financial analyses to help a leading natural resource company mitigate the risks of its investments in energy markets – including the risks posed by national climate policies.
We also have identified and analyzed a large electric utility’s options for entry into energy efficiency markets, including assessing options for defining pricing terms in a long-term natural gas contract, conducting risk management and investment analyses for development of a gasification facility, advising the Board of Directors of a regional transmission organization regarding its annual strategic planning.
