Summary of Experience:

 Dr. Lichtenberg is an expert on industrial organization, applied microeconomics, and econometrics. His research focuses on how the introduction of new technologies arising from R&D investment affects the productivity of companies, industries, and nations. He is a research associate of the National Bureau of Economic Research and has served as an expert for the Federal Trade Commission, the Department of Justice (DOJ), the Internal Revenue Service, and state attorneys general. He has testified before Congress and has worked for several government agencies, including the DOJ, the Congressional Budget Office, and the Census Bureau. Most recently, Dr. Lichtenberg has performed studies of the impact of pharmaceutical innovation on longevity, the effect of computers on productivity in business and government organizations, and the consequences of takeovers and leveraged buyouts for efficiency and employment. He has been widely published and has received numerous awards, including the Schumpeter Prize for his paper “Pharmaceutical Innovation as a Process of Creative Destruction” and a Milken Institute Award for Distinguished Economic Research for the paper “Pharmaceutical Knowledge-Capital Accumulation and Longevity.”

He has been awarded research fellowships, grants, and contracts by a number of organizations, and he has served as a consultant to a range of private organizations and government agencies, including the Securities Industry Association, Pfizer, the RAND Corporation, the New York City Water Board, The Walt Disney Company, and the National Pharmaceutical Council.
