Summary of Experience:
Hendrik Bessembinder’s research and teaching interests include financial management, international finance, stock markets, foreign exchange markets, energy markets, trading costs, trading strategies, and financial risk management. His research has been published in leading journals including the Journal of Finance, the Journal of Financial Economics, and the Review of Financial Studies, and he has taught university courses in corporate finance, investments, and financial engineering at the masters and doctoral levels. He is managing editor of the Journal of Financial and Quantitative Analysis and associate editor of the Journal of Finance, the Journal of Financial Economics, and the Journal of Financial Markets.
Professor Bessembinder has consulted for the Department of Justice on stock market collusion; the Securities and Exchange Commission on mutual fund trading practices; the Internal Revenue Service on option-based tax shelters; and the Commodity Futures Trading Commission on energy market manipulation. He has worked with Analysis Group in a number of matters involving stock market structure and performance metrics, stock market manipulation, risk management strategies, and mutual fund and bond market trading costs.
He previously held faculty positions at the Goizueta Business School of Emory University, the Simon School of Business of the University of Rochester, and the Arizona State University College of Business.
