Summary of Experience:
Dr. Birnbaum joined Analysis Group in 1997, and has been instrumental in establishing the national prominence of the firm’s Health Economics practice. An applied microeconomist, Dr. Birnbaum has conducted wide-ranging economic investigations regarding the direct and indirect costs of illness, as well as the cost-effectiveness and outcomes of treatment. He has conducted health economics research for pharmaceutical and device manufacturers, managed care organizations, and government agencies. Dr. Birnbaum also has provided expert testimony and litigation support in matters regarding Medicare and Medicaid reimbursement, managed care issues, comparative effectiveness, and allegations of off-label promotion of prescription drugs. Dr. Birnbaum serves on the editorial board of PharmacoEconomics, and has published articles in many leading medical, health economics, and managed care journals.
