Summary of Experience:
An expert in antitrust, intellectual property, and securities, Mr. Arnold has worked on behalf of numerous Fortune 500 companies and with most of the nation’s top law firms. He regularly manages complex civil litigation matters and specializes in preparing expert reports addressing accounting, economics, and finance. In addition, he testifies on liability and damages issues in antitrust, intellectual property, securities, and complex business tort disputes. In recent major matters he (i) advised Citibank in connection with its Enron-related litigations; (ii) assisted Honeywell in a $1 billion case involving alleged accounting fraud and fraudulent conveyance; (iii) led the expert work for Calpine in connection with substantive consolidation, fraudulent conveyance, and Section 11 disputes; (iv) testified for five days in a jury trial for BASF in a dispute with Lyondell (the jury accepted his testimony in its totality); and (v) testified at the request of the Federal Trade Commission in its case against Ovation Pharmaceuticals. His experience also includes leading the expert work and attendant analysis in Winstar cases for the U.S. Department of Justice, serving as an expert witness for the Chicago Board of Trade in a matter involving electronic trading patents, and advising a large asset management/investment fund firm regarding an SEC investigation (Wells investigation) into its trading practices. Mr. Arnold has served as a lecturer at The University of Chicago Graduate School of Business and The University of Chicago’s Department of Economics, and as a guest lecturer at other academic institutions. He is a member of the American Economic Association and the American Finance Association.
