Summary of Experience:
Professor Klausner teaches courses on corporate law, corporate governance, business transactions, and the regulation of financial institutions. Most of his writing in recent years has been on corporate governance. He is currently engaged in an empirical study of public and private enforcement of the securities laws.
Professor Klausner has written for a number of publications. He is a coauthor of the article “Outside Director Liability” (with Bernard Black and Brian Cheffins) Stanford Law Review (2006) and the author of a working paper “Are Securities Class Actions ‘Supplemental’ to SEC Enforcement?” Prior to joining the Stanford faculty, Professor Klausner was on the faculty of New York University Law School.
Before beginning his academic career, Professor Klausner practiced law in Washington, D.C., and Hong Kong. He was a White House Fellow from 1989 to 1990; a law clerk for Judge David Bazelon on the U.S. Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia Circuit in 1981 and 1982; and a law clerk for Justice William Brennan on the U.S. Supreme Court.
