Academic Affiliate John Chalmers Receives TIAA-CREF Award for Outstanding Scholarly Writing

The TIAA-CREF Institute recently honored Analysis Group academic affiliate and University of Oregon professor John Chalmers with the 18th annual TIAA-CREF Paul A. Samuelson Award for Outstanding Scholarly Writing on Lifelong Financial Security. Professor Chalmers and coauthor Jonathan Reuter of Boston College were recognized for their paper "How Do Retirees Value Life Annuities? Evidence from Public Employees." The paper explored the demand for life annuity payments in a large sample of retirees using administrative data from the Oregon Public Employees Retirement System.
Professor Chalmers, the Abbott Keller Distinguished Research Scholar and Associate Professor of Finance at the University of Oregon's Lundquist College of Business, is an expert in securities issues, with a focus on the trading behavior of investors and the pricing of securities.
