Payment Cards
Over the past decade, we have worked on several high-profile cases involving antitrust and other issues in the payment card industry. Our experience includes litigation involving issuers of credit, debit, and smart cards. Our work in these cases has included analysis of the corporate structure of card networks and alleged anticompetitive impacts of these structures.
We have also conducted analyses in cases involving various card networks’ alleged illegal tying of acceptance of credit cards to acceptance of debit cards. We have assessed the effects of industry consolidation through the merger of ATM networks; trademark disputes involving smart cards; the complexities of two-sided platforms; and a range of anticompetitive claims stemming from inter-brand competition among debit card networks.
In our work on a number of cases involving antitrust allegations in the payment card industry, we have supported multiple experts in analyzing issues of liability, class certification, damages, and business strategy.
Our clients value institutional expertise in the industry. Analysis Group’s long-standing experience has provided us with an unusually deep understanding of the workings of the industry and the roles and complex interrelationships among the various participants.
