When a plan performs poorly, plaintiffs often allege that an investment option was not managed in a reasonable manner and/or that the selection of particular investment options was not prudent.
In analyzing the suitability of investments for ERISA plans, Analysis Group has examined issues such as:
- The appropriateness of the process and criteria used to select and subsequently monitor investments
- Whether an investment manager adhered to the stated investment guidelines
- Whether the risk and return of the selected investments were consistent with plan guidelines and objectives and, ultimately, appropriate for the plan
