Summary of Experience:

Professor Daines is an internationally recognized corporate law expert and is widely known for his rigorous statistical analysis of empirical data on the relationship between economic theory and corporate governance. His recent work has focused on issues such as CEO pay, mandatory disclosure regulations, mergers and acquisitions, and the role of proxy advisors. Professor Daines’s work has appeared in such top publications as the Journal of Financial Economics and the Journal of Law, Economics, and Organization. He is currently a referee for several publications including the Journal of Finance and the Journal of Law and Economics. Prior to his academic career, he was an associate in the leveraged finance department of Goldman Sachs where he advised firms on junk bonds, bank financing, and project finance in emerging markets. Professor Daines directs the Arthur and Toni Rembe Rock Center for Corporate Governance at Stanford University and has an appointment (by courtesy) with the Stanford Graduate School of Business.
