Commonwealth Court Building, Inc. v. Criimi Mae Services

Working with Akin Gump Strauss Hauer & Feld LLP on behalf of Criimi Mae, a commercial mortgage company structured as a REIT, in this matter involving an alleged wrongful failure of a mortgagee to consent to certain conditions surrounding a proposed new lease, Analysis Group examined the commercial space market in Los Angeles and its expected performance over the next decade. In particular, the Analysis Group team valued the prospects that the owners of the building would enter into alternative arrangements, used an option pricing methodology to value the ability to extend the lease, and critiqued the plaintiff's valuation/damages model. The court dismissed the claims of the plaintiff.
