Kenneth Woo v. Phillip Roman & Company, et al.
Analysis Group was retained by Kenneth Woo, a former employee of the M&A firm Phillip Roman & Company. Mr. Woo worked for the company for more than 20 years, during which time he was initially paid a draw against commissions earned on the closing of sales or mergers to which he contributed. He later worked on commission only. Mr. Woo alleged, among other things, that after refusing to sign a general release of claims against his employer, he was terminated, at least one large commission was improperly withheld, and he was denied access to a substantial database of prospects he had developed during his tenure with the firm.
Mr. Woo brought suit for wrongful termination and breach of contract. An Analysis Group team led by Vice President Peter Rybolt assessed damages. A jury of the Los Angeles County Superior Court found in Mr. Woo’s favor and awarded both damages and attorney’s fees.
