Summary of Experience
Mr. Peterson has more than 30 years of experience in benefits outsourcing and is an expert on retirement benefits, specifically defined benefit and 401(k) defined contribution plans. He consults regularly on ERISA and retirement benefit issues with a variety of providers and investors in financial services. He has held a number of leadership positions with Hewitt Associates (which now operates as AonHewitt), a US provider of defined benefit and defined contribution plan administration services. As global practice leader of the firm’s Retirement Outsourcing Services, Mr. Peterson was responsible for product development, resource planning, and business strategy of that business. In that capacity, he helped create a suite of financial services available to employees of Hewitt’s clients, including Hewitt’s internally run brokerage capability for participants in the 401(k) plans administered by the firm. Mr. Peterson played a key role in Hewitt’s acquisition of Northern Trust Retirement Consulting and Retirement Plan Services from National City Bank Corporation. He was president of the board of trustees of Hewitt Money Market Trust, a registered money market fund offered to retail investors employed by Hewitt and its clients. Mr. Peterson was named to the “50 Most Influential People of the 401(k) Industry” list by 401kWire, a trade publication.
