Summary of Experience
Dr. Piggott specializes in the areas of demand analysis, agricultural markets, applied econometrics, agricultural biotechnology, and risk management. His research work includes the development of innovative demand system models such as the Nested PIGLOG (NEP) model. He has conducted nearly 100 workshops and seminars on grain marketing and risk management strategies and has been the principal or co-principal investigator on more than 20 extramural funded projects. Dr. Piggott has received many national awards for excellence in research and outreach, including awards from the American Agricultural Economics Association and the Food Distribution Research Society. In addition, he has consulted with private firms and federal agencies on the demand for agricultural commodities and commodity promotion, the impacts of agricultural biotechnology, the US livestock industry, and the evaluation of crop insurance products.
