Summary of Experience

Dr. Godek has more than 40 years of government and litigation consulting experience in antitrust, class certification, commercial damages, and securities fraud matters. He served as economic advisor to the director of the Federal Trade Commission’s (FTC’s) Bureau of Competition, and as a staff economist with the Department of Justice’s (DOJ’s) Antitrust Division, where he received a special achievement award for outstanding performance. Additionally, he has provided expert reports and testimony in private litigation and on behalf of the DOJ, and he has been retained as a consulting expert for the FTC. Lexology Index (formerly Who’s Who Legal) has listed Dr. Godek among “leaders in the field” in its category of competition economists. Dr. Godek has experience dealing with large and complex databases in the context of litigation. In both government service and private practice, his work has focused on the application of statistics and econometrics to antitrust and class certification issues, as well as to the computation of damages. Dr. Godek has made written and oral presentations to the antitrust authorities and other federal agencies including the Department of Commerce, Federal Communications Commission, Internal Revenue Service, International Trade Commission, and Securities and Exchange Commission. Dr. Godek’s published papers have appeared in the Antitrust Bulletin, Antitrust Source, Competition Policy International Journal, Economic Inquiry, Journal of Financial Economics, and Journal of Law and Economics.
