Summary of Experience

Professor Kim is an expert in structured financial instruments, fixed-income pricing, and the optimal restructuring of distressed debt. She has deep experience in the structuring, management, and liquidation of various special purpose vehicles issuing collateralized debt obligations and asset-backed securities, and has frequently provided consulting and litigation support in these areas. In addition, Professor Kim has expertise in tokenization, blockchain technology, smart contract design, and the broader decentralized finance (DeFi) space, on which she has consulted and written extensively.

Professor Kim’s expert work includes testifying on economic damages stemming from wrongful termination and on the technical underpinnings and standards in the tokenization of securities and real world assets. She holds regular visiting appointments at Indian School of Business and Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology, where she lectures on digital assets, DeFi protocols, and financial technology, and she frequently presents to academic, industry, and legal audiences on these matters. She is a senior editor of the Journal of Investment Management. Professor Kim’s work has been published in numerous journals, including the International Journal of Economics and Finance, the Journal of Financial Data Science, the Journal of Investment Management, and the Journal of Banking and Finance, and she has written the books DeFi for Dummies and NFTs For Dummies. Previously, Professor Kim taught at Purdue University.
