Summary of Experience

Professor Jagabathula specializes in business analytics, operations management, and the application of AI and machine learning to commercial decision making. His research sits at the intersection of operations, AI, and behavioral economics, with a focus on how algorithmic decision systems – such as pricing engines, recommendation tools, and substitution algorithms – shape firm strategy and consumer behavior in digital markets. Professor Jagabathula has conducted large-scale empirical studies of consumer behavior across a wide range of product categories, including digital services and consumer goods. He co-founded a big-data retail analytics startup acquired by Nike and served as chief scientist and scientific advisor at two supply chain analytics startups. Professor Jagabathula’s research has appeared in Management Science, Operations Research, and Marketing Science, among other publications, and he has held editorial roles for a number of academic journals. His research has been recognized with numerous honors, including the National Science Foundation CAREER Award and Management Science’s Best Paper Award in Operations Management. He is a frequent speaker at conferences and serves as a reviewer and committee chair for professional organizations in operations and analytics. While on leave from NYU Stern, Professor Jagabathula spent a year as a visiting professor at Harvard Business School.
