Summary of Experience
Professor Shankar is a marketing expert with experience in digital business, marketing strategy, international marketing, mobile marketing, services marketing, innovation, branding, new product management, retailing, pricing, and artificial intelligence. He has served as an expert witness in cases involving online marketing and the infringement of internet technologies and online intellectual property. Professor Shankar has consulted to corporations including Colgate-Palmolive, GSK, Hewlett-Packard, IBM, Intel, Lucent Technologies, PepsiCo, and Volvo. He has published in academic journals and business periodicals and has appeared on CNN, C-SPAN, and NBC. Professor Shankar is an area editor for the International Journal of Research in Marketing and has served on the editorial boards of Marketing Science, the Journal of Marketing Research, the Journal of Marketing, and the Journal of Retailing. He has been a visiting scholar at Stanford University and MIT Sloan School of Management and has served as a visiting faculty member at other universities. Prior to joining the Cox School, Professor Shankar was Ford Chair Professor of Marketing & E-Commerce and director of research at the Center for Retailing Studies at the Mays Business School, Texas A&M University. He is a former president of the American Marketing Association’s Marketing Strategy Special Interest Group and a current member of its Chief Marketing Officers Council and Business-to-Business Leadership Board. Professor Shankar has received multiple international awards for his scholarly contributions to marketing and has served as a keynote speaker at academic and professional conferences worldwide.
