Summary of Experience

Dr. Smith has over 15 years of experience evaluating economic damages in litigation and arbitration. He has testified at depositions, arbitrations, and hearings on matters involving lost investment opportunities, breach of contract, lost profits and wages, competitive restraints, price discrimination, reputational harm, and fraud. He has served as an expert and conducted economic analyses in support of academic and industry experts in complex litigation matters involving contractual disputes, class certification, trade secrets, securities violations, consumer deception, antitrust, labor and employment, patent and copyright infringement, and personal injury. Dr. Smith has worked on behalf of the US Department of Justice (DOJ), the US Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), the US Internal Revenue Service (IRS), and firms across a range of industries, including automotive, manufacturing, transportation, retail, financial services, health care, pharmaceuticals, B2B software and technology, and media and entertainment. He also contributed to Proving Antitrust Damages, a book published by the American Bar Association. Before joining Analysis Group, Dr. Smith taught undergraduate economics at The University of Chicago and worked in management consulting and as an investment advisor representative at a leading global financial services firm. In his doctoral studies, he specialized in finance and industrial organization.
