Prof. Thomas Z. Lys Recognized by American Accounting Association for “Distinguished Contributions to Accounting Literature”

Professor Thomas Z. Lys, an Analysis Group affiliate, is a recipient of the American Accounting Association’s (AAA’s) Distinguished Contributions to Accounting Literature Award for 2022. Professor Lys was recognized with two of his former Ph.D. students, Professor Daniel A. Cohen and Professor Aiyesha Dey, for their paper “Real and Accrual-Based Earnings Management in the Pre- and Post-Sarbanes-Oxley Periods,” published in the May 2008 issue of The Accounting Review. Professor Lys is the Eric L. Kohler Professor Emeritus at the Kellogg School of Management at Northwestern University.

The AAA award, which is presented annually to works published more than 5 years but not more than 15 years prior to the year of the award, recognizes accounting research noteworthy for its uniqueness, contribution to accounting education, originality and innovative content, and methodology, among other factors.
