Summary of Experience
Ms. Kaeo has over 25 years of experience in pioneering internet technology deployments and cybersecurity initiatives. She is an expert in developing guidance that addresses global compliance requirements; leading risk analysis needs; creating incident response and responsible vulnerability disclosure processes; and evaluating and executing on effective risk mitigation strategies. Ms. Kaeo has held a variety of executive leadership positions, as well as led and contributed to several global threat intelligence sharing initiatives. In the EU, she was part of the Network and Information Security (NIS) working group that created guidelines and recommendations to promote the sharing of cyberthreat information and incident coordination in both the public and private sectors. During and after the 2007 cyberattacks against Estonia, Ms. Kaeo was instrumental in fostering cooperation among the global operational security community and the Estonian National Computer Emergency Response Team (CERT). Previously, she led the first security initiative for Cisco Systems and wrote Cisco’s first book on security, Designing Network Security. Ms. Kaeo is an active member of several global high-tech organizations. She is a member of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE), a pioneer member of the Internet Society (ISOC), and has been an active contributor in the Internet Engineering Task Force (IETF) since 1992. Ms. Kaeo is on the Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers’s (ICANN’s) Security and Stability Advisory Council (SSAC), where she serves as the SSAC liaison to the ICANN board; and she co-chairs FIRST’s Information Exchange Policy special interest group.
