Summary of Experience

Ms. Kappagoda specializes in analysis and the modeling of trends and patterns across global asset classes, markets, regions, sectors, and industries. Her expertise includes portfolio strategy for foreign exchange, fixed income, commodities, and capital markets activity applicable to analysis of consumer behavior, industrial and housing activity, income distribution, macroeconomics, demographics, and socioeconomic indicators. In a previous role as senior economist at global macro hedge fund Caxton with $15 billion of assets under management, Ms. Kappagoda conducted analysis that informed positioning and pricing for real-time trading decisions and asset allocation. She has also conducted econometric analysis of economic indicators and market response of spot and futures prices to macroeconomic indicator releases, as well as trading analysis during market disruptions and weather- and catastrophe-related supply chain disruptions. Ms. Kappagoda is an independent board director of Credit Suisse US Mutual Funds, which invest in commodity, quantitative, credit, and high-yield strategies. She is a vice-chair of three committees of the American Bar Association’s Science & Technology Law Section: Insurance Technology and Risk, Big Data, and Internet of Things. In 2020, she was appointed as a technical advisor to the Uniform Law Commission’s Public Health Emergency Authority Committee. Ms. Kappagoda is also a visiting scholar and research co-advisor at the RiskEcon® Lab for Decision Metrics at NYU Courant Institute of Mathematical Sciences, a senior editorial advisory board member of the Journal of Risk Finance, and a former special editor for risk management of The Journal of Alternative Investments.
