Srikanth Jagabathula

Professor Jagabathula specializes in AI and machine learning, AI infrastructure, business analytics, pricing, and operations. His research spans the AI value chain, from the compute, energy, and semiconductor constraints shaping AI development to the design and commercial effects of algorithmic decision systems, including pricing engines, recommendation systems, and substitution algorithms.

His work includes generative models of consumer shopping behavior, unstructured-text models for commodity-price forecasting, a benchmark of 23 frontier AI models on the CFA Level III exam, and reinforcement learning algorithms for dynamic pricing. He has worked in AI and machine learning for nearly two decades. Professor Jagabathula’s AI and machine learning research has appeared in NeurIPS, the Journal of Machine Learning Research, and IEEE Transactions on Information Theory, while his broader research includes publications in business journals such as Management Science and Marketing Science. He is a named inventor on three patents.

Professor Jagabathula is co-founder and CEO of Xcelsa Labs, a technology company focused on AI-driven semiconductor design. He previously co-founded Celect, which commercialized his machine learning research on consumer choice and was acquired by Nike. He also co-founded Velai, which uses AI models to extract financial price signals from news text. Professor Jagabathula served as chief scientist and scientific advisor to Arena AI, developing reinforcement learning algorithms for pricing. He has written for Fortune and Harvard Business Review and delivered more than 100 talks to academic and industry audiences.

Professor Jagabathula’s honors include the National Science Foundation CAREER Award, the MSOM Young Scholar Prize, the NeurIPS Outstanding Student Paper Award, and the Management Science Best Paper Award in Operations Management. He has also received NYU Stern’s Distinguished Teaching Award and recognition from Poets & Quants as a Top 40 Under 40 business professor.
