Mr. Berberian specializes in economic and valuation analysis in complex matters such as financial services litigation, health care litigation, and international arbitration, including investor-state disputes. He has testified as an expert witness on valuation, and supported experts on valuation and damages topics in a variety of industries such as chemicals, pharmaceuticals, real estate, telecommunications, tobacco, and financial products. Mr. Berberian’s health care litigation experience includes several cases involving quantification of damages in the pharmaceutical industry. He has also supported pharmaceutical marketing experts and US Food and Drug Administration regulatory experts on health care-related disputes in the US and Asia. Regarding finance matters, Mr. Berberian has supported industry and academic experts on a variety of topics related to mortgage-backed securities litigation. He has also supported industry and damages experts in trust and estates disputes. Mr. Berberian is involved with international arbitration matters, both investor-state and commercial disputes. He has published on the use of country risk premiums in discount rates when conducting valuations. Notably, on behalf of the Uruguayan government, Mr. Berberian supported an expert on economic damages related to the impact of Uruguayan tobacco regulations. He has spoken on damages issues and loss causation in international arbitrations in New York, São Paulo, Seoul, and Yerevan.
