Summary of Experience

Professor Palia is an expert in banking, law and economics, and corporate finance and governance. He has served as an expert witness in cases in both federal and state courts involving subprime mortgages, factoring, predatory lending, merchant cash advances, race-based discrimination, breach of contract, CD rates, and corporate governance. Professor Palia has published noteworthy articles in several prominent economics and finance journals on topics such as antitrust, bank loan pricing, corporate governance, firm debt policies, IPOs, mergers, race-based discrimination, boards of directors, and managerial compensation. He is an associate editor of the Journal of Financial and Quantitative Analysis. In his role as founding director of the Financial Institutions Center, he organizes panels and seminars that serve as an interface among senior executives in finance, regulators, and academics. Prior to joining Rutgers Business School, Professor Palia was on the faculties of Columbia Business School, The University of Chicago, and Princeton University.
