David F. Larcker

Professor Larcker is an expert in corporate governance, applied econometrics, and managerial accounting. He has extensive experience consulting to companies and boards on corporate governance matters and has served on the boards of various private companies. Professor Larcker’s research examines how governance structures, performance measures, executive compensation, and financial reporting relate to firm performance, decision making, and accounting and stock market outcomes. His studies have addressed the cost of executive stock options, the valuation implications of corporate governance, rank-and-file accounting incentives, and board diversity and shareholder voting. Professor Larcker has coauthored three books on corporate governance: The Art and Practice of Corporate Governance, Corporate Governance Matters: A Closer Look at Organizational Choices and Their Consequences, and A Real Look at Real World Corporate Governance. He has also published his research in peer-reviewed journals in accounting, finance, and law, including The Journal of Finance, the Journal of Accounting Research, the Journal of Accounting and Economics, and the Journal of Financial Economics. His honors include the Davis Faculty Award, an honorary doctorate from Copenhagen Business School, membership in the American Accounting Association Accounting Hall of Fame, and the 2022 Jensen Prize from the Journal of Financial Economics. Professor Larcker has testified as an expert in shareholder derivative litigation involving Apple, Oracle, Hewlett-Packard, and PG&E. He served on the board of trustees of Allspring Global Investments until his retirement. Previously, he was the Ernst & Young Professor of Accounting at The Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania and held faculty positions at the Kellogg School of Management at Northwestern University.
