Vice Presidents
Vice presidents at Analysis Group are instrumental in building and managing client relationships and ensuring that case teams deliver high-quality insights and strategic thinking. They play a key role in supporting new business development and fostering external expert relationships.
In collaboration with managers, vice presidents are also responsible for building and aligning the right teams to meet client needs, leading analytical strategy, and clearly communicating findings. In addition, vice presidents frequently assume leadership roles supporting firm and personnel initiatives within their offices and company wide.
Vice presidents can broaden their expertise across multiple practice areas or focus on one or two domains. Over the course of their tenure, a vice president’s responsibilities and growth opportunities evolve from managing operational priorities and team performance to shaping strategic direction, expanding client relationships, and mentoring the next generation of leaders. While they may not be heavily engaged in business development early in their role, over time this becomes an essential component of the position and a key driver of professional growth.
Analysis Group fosters an academically oriented work environment with an emphasis on teamwork and collaboration across multiple areas of expertise. To learn more about the role of a consultant at Analysis Group, visit our What Is Economic Consulting? page.

AG Orientation: All new full-time employees attend an annual orientation in Boston. Orientation features speeches from senior staff, small group discussions, and social events. New employees return to work with a greater understanding of our history, work, culture, and people, as well as an expanded network of peers and resources to help them succeed at our firm.
Senior Hire Onboarding: Consultants who join the firm at senior levels receive comprehensive support during their onboarding and integration process. The program includes focused mentorship and advising, quarterly cohort discussions with peers, and support from our Administrative VPs. Designed to foster early connections, this program helps senior hires navigate our unique culture, understand how we work, and build strong internal networks early on.
Productive Conversations: Our Productive Conversations curriculum offers consultants and administrative staff a framework for approaching difficult conversations with clients, senior staff, direct reports, and teams. The framework is delivered as a cross-office, full-day workshop that allows participants to practice these effective techniques in small group settings.
VP Forum: The VP Forum is a two-day, in-person workshop designed for experienced VPs to reflect on their career development at AG and chart their future path. Through interactive sessions, participants explore key topics such as collaboration, building leverage, mentoring junior staff, and business development. The Forum also features candid career path stories from AG partners, offering insight and inspiration.
VP Circles: VP Circles are small, virtual peer groups designed to support experienced VPs as they continue to grow their leadership and business development capabilities. Facilitated by senior partners, these bimonthly sessions offer a cross-office space to deepen connections, exchange insights, and navigate complexities of the VP role. This program builds on the VP Forum and reflects our commitment to supporting long-term career growth at AG.
Senior Staff Meetings: All vice presidents are invited to join an annual retreat with our partners to reflect on major firm initiatives, strategize on our future, and build connections across the firm.
Executive Coaching: The firm offers fully customized one-on-one executive coaching engagements to VPs when requested. Just as an elite athlete might hire a coach to help them achieve a challenging goal, executive coaching provides high-touch support to consultants pursuing professional goals like leading highly effective teams, building intentional work-life integration, or enhancing a specialized skill set like writing or presentation skills.
Opportunities for Advancement
In early tenure, vice presidents continue to refine their analytical, technical, and interpersonal skills, while mentoring junior consultants and interns, as well. With increased tenures, they are encouraged to grow their business development capabilities and client relationships, with the support and guidance of partners. For those interested in pursuing expert work, there are also opportunities to gain exposure to testifying roles through tailored staffing and structured development paths. Vice presidents benefit from advisor relationships that help guide their continued growth and leadership development. Ultimately, our desire is that vice presidents rise to partner one day, and we are committed to supporting them on that path.

The Review Process
Everyone at Analysis Group has a hand in helping peers and colleagues grow and develop in their careers. Fostering one another’s growth and long-term career development is essential to the firm’s success, and the year-end review process plays a key role in offering feedback that is both constructive and supportive.
Every fall, as part of the review process, we reflect on all aspects of each employee’s performance. This includes case work, project contributions, and firm and community-building contributions such as advising, leading, and mentoring. We find that our review process contributes enormously to the cohesive, collaborative, and principled environment that makes our employees take such pride in our firm.
Analysis Group has an “internal labor market” – a network-based staffing model, comprised of consultants looking for work (“supply”) and case managers looking to staff their cases (“demand”). Our consultants find new case work based on their prior interactions, experience, and interests, with support from our staffing coordinators. Some consultants work primarily within one practice, while others choose to gain experience across a variety of practices and case types.
Vice presidents work with internal consultants at all levels of experience, including extensive collaboration with internal partners, as well as with law firms, academic and industry leaders, and experts within their fields. This makes vice presidents uniquely positioned in Analysis Group’s internal labor market. Their role in the staffing process is dynamic and varies depending on the type of case and team structure.

Does Analysis Group follow a hybrid work model? Does it allow the flexibility to work fully remotely?
At AG, we are committed to developing and retaining talent and want to foster an environment in which we are as happy and productive as possible. To that end, we believe that it’s best for us to be together in the office most of the time, and that our collective presence in the office is vitally important for the collaboration, mentorship, networking, and cultural cohesion that make AG such a special place. We also believe that over the long term, most of us will have more career growth and offer better support to one another if we are in the office a significant amount. For that reason, we ask all AG employees to be in the office at least three days per week in a typical week. We also value flexibility and in some cases, we provide additional opportunities for people to work remotely, taking into consideration role, tenure, firm contributions, and geography.
