Summary of Experience
Dr. Toniatti specializes in the application of microeconomics, econometrics, and statistical methods in litigation and strategy matters. He has conducted analyses of competition and antitrust issues across a range of industries. In merger investigations, he has supported experts for the US Department of Justice (DOJ), the Federal Trade Commission (FTC), and merging parties related to horizontal and vertical transactions. Dr. Toniatti has supported the DOJ’s testifying expert regarding the proposed Anthem/Cigna merger, and the FTC’s testifying experts regarding the proposed Penn State Hershey Medical Center/PinnacleHealth merger and Sanford Health’s proposed acquisition of the Mid Dakota Clinic. He has also supported experts in class certification, liability, and damages matters involving commercial air travel, medical devices, consumer products, and automobiles. Dr. Toniatti has taught an undergraduate course on competition and antitrust issues at Dartmouth College. His research has appeared in The Quarterly Journal of Economics, the Antitrust Law Journal, the Journal of Competition Law & Economics, and the American Bar Association’s The Antitrust Source.
